Franklore

Mission, vision and principles

What we want to do, where we are going and how we decide.

Mission and vision

Mission

  • To push independent artistic projects forward through creative development, production, promotion and connections to professional opportunities. We work with artists who have a creative intent of their own and want to develop their project with direction and commitment.

Vision

  • To be a platform known for developing projects with identity, connecting professionals and growing independent music in Guadalajara.
  • In the long run, to bring artistic development, production, promotion, an editorial outlet, collaborations and record label activity under one coordinated structure. We grow according to what we can really do, with clear agreements, and without presenting as ready something that is still being built.

Seven principles

Artistic identity matters

We look for projects with something of their own to say. Popularity, trends and streams do not replace a recognizable voice. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out: intent and willingness to work are enough.

Development needs direction

Making the work is only one part. You also have to decide about sound, presentation, communication, distribution and audience, and make those decisions point the same way.

Talent needs opportunities

A good proposal may not find an audience, collaborators, venues or services. We want to lower those barriers with promotion, connections, production and outreach.

Professionalism and transparency

Services, costs, responsibilities, rights and conditions are stated clearly. Taking part in something at Franklore does not mean giving up your songs, recordings, royalties or rights.

Collaboration without homogenizing

We bring together projects with different sensibilities. Collaborating does not erase anyone’s identity or require a shared look, genre or strategy.

Sustainability

To keep and expand what we do we need an economic model that works. Creative work has value and can be offered through paid services, joint projects, specific agreements or, later on, record label operations.

The local scene as a starting point

Guadalajara is where we come from and a priority. We use that closeness to connect artists, document projects and create opportunities.

How we decide

  • Does it help develop an artistic proposal?
  • Does it respect the identity and rights of everyone involved?
  • Is there a concrete need we can meet?
  • Do we have the capacity to deliver what we are offering?
  • Are responsibilities and economic terms clear?
  • Does it make sense for all parties?
  • Can it be sustained operationally and financially?
  • Does it build something useful in the long run?

If something does not meet these, we review it before bringing it into Franklore.

What Franklore is and is not

It is

  • An independent artistic development platform
  • An initiative with music at its core
  • A structure connecting production, promotion and collaboration
  • A project born from making music independently
  • Something tied to the Guadalajara creative scene
  • A space for artists at different stages
  • A project that wants to operate as a label

It is not

  • Only a record label
  • A generic marketing agency
  • A promise of fame or commercial success
  • A service that gives everything away for free
  • A company that demands you give up rights to your work
  • An open social network with no criteria
  • A brand that absorbs the identity of its artists
  • A guarantee of representation, gigs or deals just for taking part

How we speak

Clear, contemporary, cultural and professional. We will not say we save anyone or promise results we cannot guarantee. We explain what we offer, what we are building and how we can add to each project.
